I forgot how much you have to protect yourself when it comes to using technology and the Internet. Just one thing that has come to my mind recently is that some people have their wireless routers open for the world to use. Sometimes it is because users are not aware that they need to secure their wireless access points or forget to do so. It is also important to note that malicious users leave their wifi open for people to use hoping that someone will use their username and password, credit card, or transmit other sensitive data over an unsecure website so it can be captured for later use.
There have been news stories reporting about how some innocent people's homes are being raided by SWAT just because they left their wireless unlocked. What happens is that some pedophile drives up in his car, finds the open network, downloads a bunch of child pornography, and drives away. Guess who is blamed for the downloading of the content? Yep, grandma... all because you did not help her secure her wireless access point.
