For my Capstone project that will allow me to finish my degree, I will be traveling from place to place teaching businesses, nonprofits, and home users all about the wonderful world of IT Security! I know it seems like a boring topic to some, but it can be an eyeopening and exciting one!
*Some of the reasons why I want to help people understand more about IT Security is as follows:
*Many home users pay for at least one anti-malware software, when freeware is the way to go!
*Many users are unsure about what types of porn filters and content filtering are out there. Also, these come free and can be mostly rock solid once implemented.
*Users are too scared or too generous with their information on the Internet. There is a happy, safe medium that can be achieved!
*If a user suspects something fishy going on while they are away from their computer, there are ways of knowing what happened and even what sites were visited and what was typed into the computer.
*How many users just sit back and think about all the unreplaceable things (such as pictures) they have on their computer's hard drive that will eventually die without a backup?
This is just a small list of things that I am excited to tell people about. Computers and Internet do not have to be scary or confusing, but fun and exciting! If you want to hear more about some tips and tricks on how to keep your family safe online/offline let me know.
